Laser beam melts wire and heatens up the workpieces for the wetting by molten material. Joints which position and height depends mainly on the amount of wire material fed and the temperature field on the workpieces during processing. Wire material used for uncoated and zinc coated steel sheets is on copper basis with a melting temperature in between of 910 and 1025 °C, other workpiece material and wire material combinations are feasible.
